About Maude I. Logan

The Leadership Academy at Maude I. Logan was named after Maude Irene Logan, a longtime principal of the school.  Originally built in 1953 as Dunbar Elementary, the school on Dillard Street was formally renamed in 1975 to honor Ms. Logan's storied career in education.

Maude I. Logan was born and raised in Honey Grove, Texas.  She earned her Bachelors Degree at Wiley College in Marshall Texas, and her Masters Degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  Prior to the start of her teaching career in Texas, Ms. Logan taught school in Honey Grove, Arlington, and Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She served Fort Worth Independent School District schools for over 31 years, with the last 24 years as the principal of Dunbar Elementary and Junior High until her retirement on June 30, 1958.
